This may include Google Maps and Google Places, local Yahoo results, Bing businesses, etc. There are many ways to make sure you are attracting more local traffic to your website and to your business. 1. Consistency is key. Make sure that your contact information (name, address, phone number, e-mail, etc.) appears clearly on your webpage. You also want to make sure that this information is listed the same way across the board — in Google, Yellow Pages, Yelp, etc. If you have not listed your business in directories like Yelp and Yellow Pages, make sure you do so. The more high-quality online directories you are listed in, the better.
2. Make sure your listings are in the proper categories. Make sure all of the information in your various local listings is clear, accurate, and complete. Fill out all of the fields and provide as much information as possible about your business so that it will be easier for customers and clients to find you.
3. Manage your ratings and reviews. Encourage customers and clients to give you positive reviews on Google Places, Google Maps, Yelp, etc. Make sure you are responding to negative reviews appropriately. When your business does show up in local searches, customers are more likely to choose your business when you have a lot of positive reviews so try to boost your ratings and reviews as much as possible.
4. Engage in the community. Get involved with local bloggers and local organizations on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media. Partner up and offer specials together to customers. Get local bloggers to endorse your business, and you can do the same for them on your website or blog. Participate on social media sites with customers and clients who post comments. Ask them questions and engage in a dialogue.
