Without the wallet.\u201d<\/strong> You may be wondering exactly how Apply Pay works, and if it is really safe to use\u2026here is what we think:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading alignwide\"><strong>How does Apple Pay work?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your credit or debit card is on file in the Passbook app (which comes with an iPhone&nbsp;6 or 6&nbsp;Plus) you are ready to shop. Your iPhone will pop up a \u201cpay with Touch ID\u201d message when its shortwave wireless transceiver is close enough to a card reader at a checkout counter, then all you have to do is enter your Touch ID as if you were unlocking your iPhone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Check out this demo video by Tech Crunch:<\/strong><br><iframe src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4I9MbIrlEUw?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you load your credit or debit card information to your Apple Pay account, Apple does not actually store your account information on their servers, only on your iPhone. Therefore, <strong>the only way someone can use your credit card to make a purchase from your iPhone is if they have the exact same finger print as you.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading alignwide\" id=\"h-safety-of-apple-pay\">Safety of Apple Pay<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As a second safety measure, Apple uses a system called, \u201ctokenization\u201d when you add your credit or debit card to your Apple Pay account.<strong> Tokenization generates and assigns a random account number to your iPhone, rather than using your actual account number<\/strong>. When you use Apple Pay to make a purchase, Apple sends that random account number, rather than your actual account number, through the store\u2019s system . Apple does this to help you avoid becoming a victim of security a breach like the ones at Target and Home Depot. In a sense, Apple Pay is more secure than using a physical credit or debit card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading alignwide\" id=\"h-banking-and-apple-pay\">Banking and Apple Pay<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Apple Pay works with most of the major credit and debit cards from the top U.S. banks, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>American Express<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mastercard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Captal One<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Citi<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bank of America<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chase<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wells Fargo<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Over <strong>220,000<\/strong> stores accept Apple Pay (find out which ones on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/apple-pay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Apple\u2019s website<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday\u2019s roll out of Apple Pay came along with a few speed bumps (as we all expected). Many Bank of America customers complained that they were double-charged for items purchased with Apple Pay. According Bank of America spokeswoman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/early-payment-glitches-mar-apple-pay-launch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tara Burke<\/a>, &#8220;<strong>All duplicates will be refunded<\/strong>.
